Setting up the J. Morita i-Dixel software bridge

Dentrix Imaging supports acquiring intraoral and extraoral images from the i-Dixel software on computers running the Windows operating system. You must install the i-Dixel software on each computer that uses the software bridge.

Notes:

·        All acquisition devices must function in the i-Dixel software on each computer that acquire images using the i-Dixel software bridge.

·        Before installing any imaging devices or setting up the i-Dixel software, you must install the acquisition agent application on each computer that you use to acquire images. Please refer to Setting up the acquisition agent for instructions on downloading and installing the acquisition agent.

·        To use the i-Dixel software bridge for 2D acquisitions,you must run the acquisition agent as administrator. For more information, see Troubleshooting.

Recommended version

·        i-Dixel imaging software v2.4.0.2 or later

Minimum version

·        i-Dixel imaging software v2.3.1.0 or later

Adding the registry settings to acquire 3D volumes

All acquisition devices must function in the i-Dixel software on each computer that acquire images using the i-Dixel software bridge.

To add the registry settings to acquire 3D volumes

1.   Open the Registry Editor.

2.   Locate the following folder: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\JMorita\3dx\Settings.

3.   Right-click the Settings folder, point to New, and then click Key. Name the new key ExtendedExport.

4.   Select the ExtendedExport key.

5.   Add the following values:

·        bRunByAcquisition (DWORD) – Set the value to 1. This value determines if an acquired image is exported automatically.

·        strExportPath (STRING) – Set the value to C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Local\Temp\IDixel. This value determines where the exported image data is saved on the computer.

·        bReportSuccess (DWORD) – Set the value to 0. This value determines if a message appears after a successful transfer.

·        bSetCTUIDForScout (DWORD) – Set the value to 0. This value determines if a scout image is linked to the CT by a UID.

·        bRunBySavingIn3DViewer (DWORD) – Set the value to 0. This value determines if snapshots saved by the CT viewer are exported automatically.

Configuring link and export options

You must configure the i-Dixel link and export options.

To configure the i-Dixel link and export options

1.   Open i-Dixel.

2.   Click the Settings window button (wrench).

3.   Click the Navigation Bar tab.

4.   Under Link To settings, click New.

5.   Select Export 3D DICOM images, and then type LinkTo Acquisition Agent in the Tooltip text box.

6.   Click the 3D DICOM tab.

7.   Set the Export folder to the temporary folder location used for the registry value strExportPath C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Local\Temp\IDixel).

8.   Select 16 bit export.

9.   Click OK.

10. Click Apply.

11. Click the Export tab.

12. Under DICOM Export, for CT, select LinkTo Acquisition Agent from the Use LinkTo after image acquisition list.

13. Click Apply and then OK. Then, close i-Dixel to apply the changes.

Configuring patient ID

If patients are being bridged with external IDs (which is platform specific), you must configure a patient ID.

To configure a patient ID

1.   In i-Dixel, click the Settings window button (wrench icon).

2.   Click the General tab.

3.   Under Patient ID, select Numbers and letters.

4.   To save the changes, click Apply, and then click OK.

Testing

The i-Dixel software bridge is functional and ready to acquire images.

To acquire a test image

1.   In the Imaging Procedures list, click Bitewing Single Image.

2.   In the tooth selection chart, click the teeth you want to image.

Note: Close the i-Dixel software before acquiring the image.

3.   In the Acquisition method for this imaging exam menu, click i-Dixel Software, and then click Proceed with Acquisition.

4.   Acquire an image in the i-Dixel software.

The captured image appears in Dentrix Imaging automatically.

Troubleshooting

To transfer 2D images that are captured in the i-Dixel imaging software to Dentrix Imaging, you must run the acquisition agent as an administrator.

To ensure the acquisition agent is running as an administrator

1.   Open Task Manager, and then click the Details tab.

2.   If the Elevated column is not visible, add the column to the view:

a.   Right-click anywhere on the column header, and then click Select columns.

The Select columns dialog box appears.

b.   Select Elevated, and then click OK.

3.   Find Acquisition Agent.exe in the Name column, and ensure that Yes appears in the Elevated column.

Note: If the program is elevated, it is being run as an administrator; if the program is not elevated, it is not being run as an administrator.
