Dentrix Imaging supports acquiring intraoral images from the Carestream CS7600 phosphor plate scanner on computers running the Windows operating system. You must install the drivers for the Carestream CS7600 scanner on every computer that the Carestream CS7600 scanner is connected to.
Note: Before installing the Carestream CS7600 scanner, you must install the acquisition agent application on each computer that you use to acquire images. Please refer to Setting up the acquisition agent for instructions on downloading and installing the acquisition agent.
You must install the device drivers for the Carestream CS7600 scanner on every computer that the Carestream CS7600 scanner is connected to.
Note: Drivers for the Carestream CS7600 scanner are provided by the manufacturer and should be included with the scanner on either a disc or USB drive.
To install the Carestream CS7600 device drivers
1. Run setup.exe.
2. Click Run Installation Wizard.
3. Complete the installation of the drivers for the Carestream CS7600 scanner.
The Carestream CS7600 scanner is functional and ready to acquire images.
To acquire a test image
1. In the Imaging Procedures list, click Bitewing Single Image.
2. In the tooth selection chart, click the teeth you want to image.
3. In the Acquisition method for this imaging exam menu, click Carestream CS7600.
4. Click Proceed with Acquisition.
Note: With the direct integration of the Carestream CS7600 scanner, images that Dentrix Imaging receives are already filtered using a Kodak/Carestream X-ray filter. Accordingly, set the Apply Enhancement filter in Dentrix Imaging to Not Enhanced for each type of procedure before you start acquiring images from the CS7600 scanner.
The Carestream CS7600 acquisition window appears.
5. If you know what filter settings you need, set them here, but you can configure them later.
Note: The first time you use the CS7600 scanner, you must select which filter you like the best in CS Adapt. To do this select Apply at acquisition for the filter you like, and then click Save and Exit.
6. When the Carestream CS7600 acquisition window displays a picture of the scanner, acquire an image, and then process the plate with the CS7600 scanner.
7. Close the Carestream CS7600 acquisition window and transfer the acquired image to Dentrix Imaging.
The following topics provide guidance for resolving possible issues.
A known issue with the Carestream software is that the CS7600 acquisition window may only work every other time.
To resolve an acquisition not starting
1. Check for an acquisition agent update. If there is an update, install it, and then try again.
2. If updating the acquisition agent does not resolve the issue, cancel the acquisition, and then try again.
You may experience issues with image quality.
To resolve image quality issues
1. Start an acquisition, and wait for the CS7600 acquisition window to open.
2. Click the gear icon.
3. To open CS Adapt, click Adjustment mode.
4. Select the filter that you like most.
If none of the available filters look good, complete the following steps:
a. Position your pointer over an option, and then select Modify Favorite for more options.
b. Select Apply at acquisition for the selected filter, and then click Save and Exit.
