Dentrix Imaging supports acquiring intraoral images from the Air Techniques CamX Spectra camera on computers running the Windows operating system. You must install the drivers for the CamX Spectra camera on every computer that the CamX Spectra camera is connected to.
Note: Before installing the camera, you must install the acquisition agent application on each computer that you use to acquire images. Please refer to Setting up the acquisition agent for instructions on downloading and installing the acquisition agent.
You must install the drivers for the CamX Spectra camera on every computer that the CamX Polaris camera is connected to.
To install the CamX Spectra drivers
1. Insert the driver disc that is included with the camera packaging from Air Techniques, or download the driver installer from the Air Techniques website (http://www.airtechniques.com/drivers/).
2. Start the CamX Camera Drivers and Utilities installer as an administrator.
3. If a User Account Control window opens, click Yes.
A CamX Camera Drivers and Utilities Setup dialog box appears.
4. Select the desired language, and then click OK.
The introduction screen appears.
5. Click Next.
The Installation options screen appears.
6. Select desired drivers, and then click Install.
7. If the Setup prompts you to unplug CamX camera devices, make sure no cameras are attached to the computer, and then click OK.
The Installation completed screen appears.
8. Click Finish.
9. Connect your CamX Spectra camera.
After installing the CamX Spectra drivers, you can acquire a test image to test the camera.
To acquire an image
1. In the Imaging Procedures list, click 2D Oral/Facial Photo Images.
2. In the Acquisition method for this imaging exam menu, click Generic Intraoral Camera or Intraoral Camera TWAIN Interface, and then click Proceed with Acquisition.
Note: If you use Generic Intraoral Camera as the acquisition method, the capture buttons on the CamX Spectra camera will not function, and you will need to use the space bar and Enter key to capture images. If you use Intraoral Camera TWAIN Interface as the acquisition method, the capture buttons on the CamX Spectra camera will function according to the manufacturer's specifications to capture images.
3. Turn on the CamX Spectra camera by pressing the power button on the device.
4. Click Proceed with Acquisition.
Notes:
· If a message about the browser not being able to access the camera appears, refer to the steps in the "Troubleshooting" section of this guide.
· To access basic camera settings, click the cog icon (in the upper-right corner of the snapshot panel).
5. If there is more than one camera connected to the computer, or if the computer has a built-in webcam, Google Chrome may not select the intraoral camera by default. If this happens, to select the correct camera, do the following:
a. Click the camera icon (in the upper-right corner of the snapshot panel).
b. Select the option that corresponds to the correct camera, and then click Change Source.
Note: You may need to be restart the computer for the changes to take effect.
6. Do one of the following:
· If the acquisition method is Generic Intraoral Camera, a live video stream from your camera appears. Complete these steps:
a. With the camera properly positioned, press the space bar to pause or freeze the live video stream (or click Pause Streaming).
b. Press the Enter key to capture the current video frame (or click Take a snapshot). The resulting image is added to the snapshot panel, and the video stream automatically becomes live again.
c. Repeat steps a-b as needed to acquire additional snapshots.
· If the acquisition method is Intraoral Camera TWAIN Interface, a capture window opens. Complete this step:
a. According to the manufacturer's specifications, use the buttons on your camera as needed to pause or freeze the live video stream, to capture the current video frame, and to make the video stream live again. Any captured images appear on the snapshot panel in Dentrix Imaging.
7. On the snapshot panel, clear the check box of the snapshots that you do not want to save.
8. Click Assign Images.
9. Do any of the following:
· To save one or more snapshots as intraoral images and assign tooth numbers, select the snapshots that pertain to the same teeth (clear snapshots that do not pertain to the same teeth), and then drag them to the Select Teeth, UR/UL/LR/LL, Upper Jaw, or Lower Jaw box.
If you drag snapshots to the Select Teeth box, select the applicable teeth, and then click Assign Teeth.
· To save one or more snapshots as extraoral images, select the snapshots that are extraoral images (clear snapshots that are not extraoral images), and then drag them to the Extraoral Photos box.
· To save the snapshots on the snapshot panel as intraoral images, but not assign tooth numbers, leave those snapshots on the snapshot panel.
Assigned intraoral images appear on the left side of the preview area; extraoral on the right.
Note: If you have a mix of intraoral and extraoral images, they map to one procedure (D0350), which will appear in the progress notes with two icons. Also, you can delete or reassign the intraoral or extraoral exam as needed in the future.
10. Click Begin Uploading.
Be sure that the CamX Spectra is powered on before you attempt to start an acquisition.
Confirm that the camera device driver is loaded and recognized by Windows.
To confirm that the device driver is loaded and recognized by Windows
1. Connect the camera to a USB port.
2. Power the camera on.
3. Open Device Manager.
4. Expand the Imaging Devices category, and make sure that the camera is listed ("Spectra Intraoral Video Camera").
5. If your camera is not detected by Windows, or if it appears with a yellow exclamation icon or as an "Unknown device," uninstall and then reinstall the driver. If the problem persists, contact Air Techniques Customer Support.
If the browser cannot access the camera, an error message appears.
To unblock the camera
1. In Chrome, click the View site information button on the left side of the URL box.
2. Select Site settings.
3. Change the Camera setting from Ask to Allow.
4. In the error message in Dentrix Imaging, click the Click here to retry after unblocking the camera link.
