Procedures for patient visits

Patients visit your office every day. The basic routine below can help you ensure that all necessary tasks are completed before they leave your office.

1.   For new patients, create a Family File by adding a new family account and adding family members if necessary.

2.   When the patient arrives, select the patient in the Family File and verify the patient's information (particularly the address and insurance coverage) in the Family File window.

3.   Chart the patient's existing conditions using the status buttons in Patient Chart.

4.   Enter the recommended treatment procedures for the patient's treatment plan using the Patient Chart (or Ledger, if you do not use the Patient Chart).

5.   Post the patient's completed procedures from the Appointment Book or Chart using the Set Complete button.

6.   Enter treatment notes using the Clinical Notes or Procedure Notes options.

7.   Order the patient's recommended treatment using the Dentrix Presenter.

8.   Print the patient's Chart and treatment plan.

9.   Schedule any follow-up appointments for the patient's treatment plan in the Appointment List or Appointment Book module.

10. Post any adjustments for the family account or patient account in the Ledger.

11. Use the Fast Checkout button to enter a payment, generate an insurance claim, and print a Walkout Statement.

12. If the patient has insurance and a treatment plan requiring pre-authorization, create and send a pre-authorization estimate to the Batch Processor from the Ledger.

13. If the patient is referred to another doctor, enter the referral information in the Family File or in the Patient Chart when posting or editing treatment.
