Providers of billable treatment

Employees/staff members

Procedure code setup

Set up (or at least review) the following four options for procedure codes:

Fee schedules

Continuing care setup

In the beginning, you should review the existing continuing care types and complete the following three tasks:

Delete any continuing care types you anticipate you will not use. (Once you attach a continuing care type to a patient, you cannot delete them.)

Customize the continuing care types that you will use so they meet the needs of your practice.

Add any new types that you will need.

Password setup

Passwords serve many different functions in a dental office:

First, you can enable and use passwords to prevent unauthorized persons from performing sensitive tasks, such as changing information, deleting transactions, accessing financial information, and so forth.

Tip: You can review the user security rights to see which Dentrix features are enabled by each of the assignable user rights.

Second, the Dentrix password feature gives your office the added security of requiring that users re-enter their passwords before they can access certain Dentrix operations to verify that they have rights to that operation.

Third, you can use passwords in conjunction with the Audit Trail Report to track who in your office has made changes to information in Dentrix.

Practice Definitions

Customize the Dentrix Practice Definitions, such as billing types, medical conditions and allergies, and alert notes, to meet the specific needs of your practice. Review the read

Dunning messages

Dunning Messages are automatic payment reminders that print on each Billing Statement according to the account’s aged balance. Review the standard ready-to-use dunning messages and then decide if you need to add or edit any dunning messages to meet your needs.

Practice Defaults

To save time when entering patient information or performing certain tasks, you can use Dentrix to set Practice Defaults, including a default provider, operatory, billing type, and billing statement for each workstation.

Auto chart numbering setup

You can set up Dentrix to automatically generate chart numbers for your patients.

Printer setup

You can set up a reports printer for use when printing most reports, which are generated from the Office Manager.
